Probationary Reviews
All new classified employees and classified employees who transfer to a position in another department are subject to serve a three month probationary period.
When to Conduct Probationary Reviews
It is recommended that employees are reviewed during their probationary period at 2, 4, and 6 months from their hire date or date of transfer.
If there are any performance concerns during the probationary review period, a probationary review can be completed at anytime. Contact an Employee Relations Advisor within the Human Resources Department at (713) 500-3130 for performance concerns and/or if you plan to recommend an employee for dismissal.

Probationary Employees During the Annual Appraisal Cycle
Employees who are hired between 3/1 - 8/31 would still be in their probationary period. These employees will not receive an annual appraisal at this time. Instead managers will complete probationary reviews at 2, 4, and 6 months.
Employees who transfer into a new department between 6/1 and 8/31 are in a probationary period. These employees will not receive an annual appraisal at this time. Instead managers will complete a probationary review.
Creating Performance Goal Plans after the Probationary Period
After an employee has completed their probationary period, the employee and manager will use the performance management system, Perform2Achieve, to enter performance goals.
