Delivering critical community outreach to people in need
Nearly 5 million Texans have no health or dental insurance, putting oral health care out of financial reach. For more than 100 years, UTHealth Houston School of Dentistry has been a dependable source of high-quality, low-cost dental care for patients of all ages through our community outreach programs across the state and in the Texas Medical Center. Our programs focus on three of the most vulnerable populations—children, older adults, and communities without access to care—through our Mobile Dental Van and outreach events, such as Give Kids A Smile and Give Vets a Smile.
Your support can bolster programs like these to bring much-needed oral health care and education to underserved communities.
Make a giftFrom helping people facing homelessness to preventing cancer and addressing mental health issues, our outreach programs take faculty and students out of the classrooms and into the community. They provide students with real-world training and people throughout the area with the services and information they need to lead healthier lives. For example, in our Food Is Medicine program, physicians write patients a prescription for medically tailored meals and groceries, providing people from underserved communities with healthy food to combat chronic health conditions.
Your support of critical programs like this helps make our communities healthier places to live for everyone.
