Ecological Momentary Analysis of Heart Rate Variability as a Marker of Stress Reactivity & Elder Mistreatment Aggression Potential in New Stroke Caregivers: A Mixed Methods Approach
The end goal of this research program is to eventually create and evaluate a just-in-time adaptive intervention that augments the stress-coping needs of informal stroke caregivers to support their wellbeing and prevent EM. Using a sequential mixed-methods design, we propose a novel NIH Stage 0 approach to identify stress reactivity in the context of emotion regulation to inform the development of an effective, scalable intervention to reduce informal stroke caregivers’ stress reactivity, and thereby reduce the potential for EM.
