McPherson named vice president of clinical and translational sciences
David McPherson, MD, was recently appointed vice president of clinical and translational sciences at UTHealth Houston. The appointment comes after 17 years with UTHealth Houston, during which time McPherson has served as executive director and co-principal investigator of the Center for Clinical and Translational Sciences, chair and professor of the Department of Internal Medicine at McGovern Medical School, and medical director of the Heart and Vascular Institute at Memorial Hermann-TMC. He also holds the Francine J. and Frederick M. Pevow, MD, Chair of Internal Medicine and the James T. and Nancy B. Willerson Chair.
Under McPherson's leadership, the Center for Clinical and Translational Sciences has secured a $55.5 million grant from the National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences, extending its funding through 2031.
