Type Standards
Our typefaces create a traditional, academic, and bold grouping. The correct use of typography plays a vital role in establishing the visual brand of our university.
University Typefaces
Adobe Garamond, with its classic, institutional feel, and Univers, with its clean lines and wide range of faces, are the official UTHealth Houston typefaces/fonts. Licensing for these typefaces is available; please contact the Office of Public Affairs.
Typefaces influence how our audiences perceive the UTHealth Houston brand and have the power to convey deeper, more symbolic messages beyond pure words.
Usage
Both Adobe Garamond and Univers can be used as headline typefaces/fonts. For readability, it is recommended to use Univers in body copy where appropriate.
These alternates are acceptable when the official typefaces/fonts are not available:

Readability
Whether in print or digital, UTHealth Houston aims to captivate and engage our audience. Readability plays an important role in the messages we communicate and how easily they are received. Font size, weight, spacing, and color are all factors that influence readability. High contrast between text and background colors should be a priority. The WebAIM contrast checker can help with readability and meeting accessibility standards.
