During the University Classified Staff Council’s annual workshop each year, eight classified staff members receive the council’s Staff Recognition Spotlight Award for outstanding work performance and consistently going above and beyond. These individuals are nominated by their peers and voted on by the Council for illustrating care, commitment, integrity, and knowledge.

The UCSC Staff Recognition Committee will open up nominations for the UCSC Staff Recognition Spotlight Awards in late Spring/early Summer. Details for the FY25 nomination process will be updated here and communicated once available.

Requirements to be nominated are:

  1. UTHealth Houston full time employee (completed UTHealth Houston six-month probationary period and in good standing)
  2. Nominated by a Chair, Faculty member, DMO, AM or colleagues
  3. Show exceptional work performance (caring, commitment, integrity, and knowledge)
  4. Exemplifies UTHealth Houston Standards of Conduct:
    Every employee and trainee is responsible for behaving ethically and for following the policies, laws and regulations which apply to the university. Each of us must be aware of the legal and ethical standards that apply to our responsibilities. We must perform our duties and responsibilities in accordance with the provisions of federal, state and local laws, regulations and policies; the Rules and Regulations of the Board of Regents of the University of Texas System (“UT System”); and the policies of the university. These responsibilities are outlined in HOOP 109, Standards of Conduct in the university’s Handbook of Operating Procedures.
