Charmaine D. Wilson Martin is the Director, Institute Administrative Services at UTHealth Institute for Stroke and Cerebrovascular Disease. She has over 20 years of experience in both research and administration. She started her research career at the Department of Defense in Washington DC as a Research Scientist focusing on building molecular nanowires. She later received her Master’s degree in Human and Molecular Genetics from The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston MD Anderson Cancer Center, Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences where she focused on Li-Fraumeni Syndrome an inherited cancer syndrome. After completing her degree she worked as a Laboratory Manager at MD Anderson Cancer Center where she did research and managed a laboratory that focused on brain tumors. She transitioned from the bench to administration when she started working as an Associate Financial Analyst in the Department of Neuro-oncology. In 2015, she joined the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston as the Director, Research Services and the Associate Director, Biosciences Laboratory at Cizik School of Nursing. Ms. Wilson Martin has multiple publications and presentations.
