Vahed Maroufy
Assistant Professor, Biostatistics at UTHealth Houston School of Public Health
Vahed completed his Undergraduate and Masters studies in Iran in mathematical statistics, and graduated form PhD program in 2016, at the department of Statistics and Actuarial Science at university of Waterloo, Canada. He held a two -year post-doctoral fellowship form 2016-2019 at the department of Biostatistics and Data Science, SPH, university of Texas Health. Currently he is assistant professor at the same department. His research focus during his graduate studies included (i) applications of convex and differential geometry in statistical inference and optimization, (ii) Bayesian sample size determination in clinical trials. His Current research interests are data mining, statistical analyses and modeling –deep learning, dynamic prediction, joint modeling, survival analysis– using big biomedical data and electronic health records (EHR); computational statistics approaches to gene profile analysis with focus on cancer studies.
