Startup Companies at UTHealth

To date, OTM has assisted with the establishment of 66 startup companies formed around UTHealth technologies, of which 42 are still active.  Startup companies are generally pursued when a particular technology needs further incubation with close involvement from the faculty inventors before larger more established companies can acquire it up and complete commercialization of a product based on the technology. OTM maintains a large networks of startup-centric contacts, from attorneys to investors, who can advise and assist with the commercialization of new and innovative UTHealth technologies. Additionally, funds are available for startup commercialization from OTM as well as from a variety of state and federal government funding programs (see Funding Opportunities for more information).
