Disability Accommodations

Reasonable accommodation may be provided to an individual with a disability to enable the individual to perform the essential functions of their position and/or participate in University academic programs, services, and activities.

  1. Request a Disability Accommodation
  2. Submit the Accommodation Certification Form* to [email protected] or by fax at 713-500-3131 within 14 calendar days of the request.

* When the disability and/or need for accommodation is not obvious, individuals are required to submit the Accommodation Certification Form completed by an appropriate healthcare professional.

Pregnancy, childbirth, or related medical conditions

If your pregnancy, childbirth, or related medical condition makes it harder for you to participate in your educational program, you can ask for a change called a reasonable accommodation, so long as it does not fundamentally alter your educational program.

For more information regarding available resources for pregnant and parenting employees, visit the Mothers on Campus Resources site.

Religious Accommodation

Accommodation may be provided to covered individuals whose sincerely held religious beliefs conflict with a University policy, procedure, or other academic or employment requirement.

The Accommodation Process

Note that submitting a request and documentation does not guarantee that the requested accommodations will be granted.

Accommodation requests are considered on a case-by-case basis, considering various factors. If the requestor is determined to be a qualified individual, the requestor and the requestor's designated Section 504 Coordinator and applicable faculty will engage in an interactive process facilitated by University Relations and Equal Opportunity to determine if it is possible to grant reasonable accommodation, so long as it does not create undue hardship or fundamental alteration of an academic program.
