I. POLICY AND GENERAL STATEMENT

The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (“University”) encourages the development of collaborative relationships among faculty around research and academic interests related to the missions of the University. To that end, the University has developed criteria and procedures for the establishment of research service centers for specific purposes in pursuit of University missions.

II. DEFINITIONS

Research Service Center (RSC): an organizational unit within an academic department, institute/center, school, or University administration that provides research related services or products to users principally within the University community.  An RSC recovers the cost of its operation through charges to its users. The costs of providing the services or products are charged to users on a “rate” basis.
