I. POLICY AND GENERAL STATEMENT

The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston ("University"), in accordance with state and federal laws and with its own criteria for faculty and staff, requires prospective and current employees to meet the eligibility requirements described in this policy in order to be employed by the University.

Prospective employees must be eligible for employment, provide accurate information regarding education and experience, pass required background checks, provide accurate references verifying previous employment, undergo tuberculosis screening, if required, and pass a physical assessment as necessary to be eligible for employment at the University.

Any falsification of information on an employment application or any other record may disqualify the applicant from further consideration. In addition, Human Resources may initiate proceedings for immediate dismissal against any employee if it becomes evident the employee's application information was falsified.

Failure by the employee to maintain current licensures and certifications required for the position may result in an unpaid leave of absence or separation from the University.  To maintain employment, employees are responsible for knowledge of and compliance with the performance criteria for their jobs and with all rules, regulations, procedures and/or standards of conduct established by The University of Texas System Board of Regents, the University, their departments and any affiliated hospitals, clinics and/or agencies where they are assigned to work.
