Policy Process
Policy Development and Revision Process
UT Health Science Center at Houston policies are owned by a responsible office under the authority of a responsible executive, who is either a university vice president, dean, or other official. In the development and revision process, policies receive rigorous review by the HOOP Review Committee and the Executive Council.
The HOOP Review Committee, composed of a representative group from across all communities of the university, approves proposed new policies and proposed substantive changes to existing policies. The next step for the office responsible for the policy is to draft the full document, consulting with identified stakeholders. The fully drafted policy is reviewed, or "reality-tested," by the HOOP Review Committee. New policies and substantive revisions are then reviewed by the Executive Council for approval.
The Office of Legal Affairs provides support at all stages of this process.
