UTHealth Houston Fetal Institute will be the world leader in innovation, education, and training of future fetal health specialists for fetal diagnosis and therapy.
Mission
To build a university-level multidisciplinary collaboration with a diverse workforce to elevate the platform upon four pillars: clinical excellence, research innovation, promotion and outreach, and training and education.
Goals
- Develop tools to streamline diagnostic imaging technologies, early genetic testing, and innovative treatment in fetal diagnosis and therapy to speed time from diagnosis to treatment, improve quality of care, and promote research discoveries.
- Accelerate fetal health innovations through interprofessional collaborations to become the lead institution for seminal and groundbreaking fetal research trials.
- Promote maternal mental health and social support by establishing a nationally recognized Perinatal Mental Health program focusing on education, prevention, and intervention.
- Become the international hub for setting reporting criteria standards in fetal intervention volume and outcomes, establishing care management protocols, and creating level of care requirements.
- Prepare the next generation of scientists and providers through education, training, and career development—to better understand fetal health and disease and to develop tools and treatments for sustainable solutions to advance fetal diagnosis and therapy.
