Institute for Implementation Science

The UTHealth Houston Institute for Implementation Science aims to advance implementation research and practice through transdisciplinary, translational team science.

The ultimate impact of health innovations depends not only on their effectiveness but also on their reach in the population and the extent to which they are adopted, implemented, and maintained over time. Despite substantial advances in health innovations, a research-to-practice gap remains, limiting our ability to improve health and quality of life equitably. In response, UTHealth Houston established the Institute for Implementation Science to create the infrastructure to accelerate the use of evidence to improve population health by bridging the research-to-practice gap.

Our vision is to develop and nurture a community of implementation science researchers and practitioners to improve population health in Texas, the nation, and the world.
