Biography

   Ritchel obtained her PhD in Nutritional Sciences at Texas Tech University. She joined UTHealth in 2024 as a postdoctoral research fellow in the Department of Integrative Biology and Pharmacology at McGovern Medical School. She is interested in understanding the biological mechanisms involved in the development of human cancers and how to leverage this knowledge for the development of novel therapeutic approaches.

Research Description

   Dr. Gannaban is interested in decoding the mechanism linking glycosylated membrane lipids and KRas in the plasma membrane using high resolution imaging, mouse cancer models, and other molecular techniques. Her work also involves the use of pharmacogenetic approach to inhibit lipid metabolism in the plasma membrane to suppress KRas oncogenesis.
