Roberta Calvo, PhD

Biography

Dr. Roberta Calvo received her BS in Biological Sciences (2016) and her MS in Neurobiology (2018) from the University of Pavia (Italy). In 2019, she was selected for the Erasmus Traineeship Program and she moved to London (UK) to work with stroke survivors at Imperial College. She then obtain her PhD in Neuroscience in 2023 at the University of Bonn (Germany). During her PhD, she had the opportunity to work on his project at UT Austin in Dr. Hans Hofmann lab. In April 2024, she joined UtHealth as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow.

Research Description

Dr. Roberta Calvo's research focuses on the neuronal and molecular mechanisms underlying learning and memory. In particular, by using the marine mollusc Aplysia, the first goal is to continue to elucidate how the interaction of multiple second messenger/kinase pathways is involved in the mechanisms of synaptic plasticity.
