A heartwarming success: Walk to End Alzheimer’s
The Walk to End Alzheimer’s event on Saturday, Nov. 9 at University of Houston Lynn Eusan Park brought together a passionate community of supporters committed to making a difference in the fight against Alzheimer’s disease.
The event, hosted by the Alzheimer’s Association, saw hundreds of participants, including families, friends, caregivers, healthcare professionals, and advocates, all walking to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer’s research and support services.
Making an impact together
UTHealth Houston raised over $8,000 in support of the Alzheimer’s Association’s mission. Together with other teams across Houston, nearly $1 million was raised collectively.
Funds will directly support Alzheimer’s research, care, and advocacy efforts, bringing the world closer to ending Alzheimer’s. The efforts of those from the UTHealth Houston community who participated, donated, and supported this year’s walk was greatly appreciated.
Celebrating community and impact
The purpose of the Walk to End Alzheimer’s is to not only raise critical funds but to also bring hope to those affected. This year’s walk was filled with inspiring moments, including a moving speech by a person living with Alzheimer’s that set the tone for the day.
The walk itself was a display of solidarity, with participants walking side by side in honor of loved ones impacted by Alzheimer’s. The energy was palpable, with attendees sharing stories, connecting with others, and showing support for the Alzheimer’s community.
Looking ahead
This year’s walk exceeded expectations in terms of attendance and the impact it will have on advancing Alzheimer’s research and care. UTHealth Houston looks forward to continuing to support this important mission to end Alzheimer’s.
