2020 Promotions and Awards Ceremony Series Concludes

The University of Texas Police at Houston (UT Police) celebrated its annual Promotions and Awards Ceremony this year virtually due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Over the course of three departmental meetings - in October, November and December - awards were announced for UT System Director of Police awards and UT Police's own Of The Year awards. The event also recognized external awards and accomplishments garnered by staff throughout the year.

Each year, UT Police receives dozens of nominations for the UT System awards. A committee of peers reviews all nominations. Those that are recommended for awards are reviewed by the Chief of Police and the UT System Director of Police.

The first round of UT System awards were featured in October and presented to teams involved in an incident or recognition. During the second event in November, the department acknowledged individual UT System award recipients, higher education degrees earned, and promotions. In December, the department announced the accolades of those whose work was recognized and honored by external agencies. In addition, the highly coveted Of The Year award recipients - who are selected for their overall contributions to UT Police throughout the year - were announced at the meeting that concluded the virtual celebrations.

UT Police is proud of the caliber of excellence shown by our staff and the example they have set for us all. We hope you join us in applauding their efforts.
