Sharing a long endometriosis journey to help others

From the day her period started at age 13, Catherine Gray experienced daily (often excruciating) pain that interfered with school, work, and her life as a young adult. She later had issues with her bladder, intestines, and bowel. What she didn’t realize was that she had endometriosis, and it was spreading to other organs. There were many days she couldn’t get out of bed.

Three years ago, Monique Dorsey had a textbook-perfect pregnancy. She brought home a beautiful baby girl and everything seemed fine, until it wasn't. A thunderclap headache warned of a small stroke to come. Diagnosed with an uncommon form of post-pregnancy preelampsia and treated successfully by Louise McCullough, MD, she shared her story so other women could learn from it.

UTHealth Houston celebrated alongside its hospital partner as Harris Health System broke ground on a new $1.6 billion hospital on the Lyndon B. Johnson campus in Northeast Harris County that will enhance health care in one of the county’s most vulnerable communities.
