When UTHealth Houston staff, faculty, or students need to call the IT Solution Center — also known as the “Help Desk” — the highly skilled people who answer those calls do not work for a vendor or happen to be in another country. They are all full-time UTHealth Houston employees who are dedicated call responders, working together to get computers or mobile devices up and running again.

Bassel Choucair, associate vice president of IT user experience and support at UTHealth Houston, recently celebrated a significant milestone: 30 years with the university. It has been his first and only place of employment after graduating from Boston University with a degree in biomedical engineering.

HIV is a virus that targets the body’s immune system, and the late stage of this infection becomes AIDS. Thanks to advanced medicine, however, people with HIV can live functional and healthy lives. Jay, 49, is living proof.
