UTHealth Houston and HSC in Fort Worth team up for ‘All for Them’ vaccination program

When Erika Thompson, PhD, received an invitation to bring more lifesaving vaccines to children and adolescents in North Texas, she leaped at the opportunity.

Thompson, an associate professor in the Department of Biostatistics and Epidemiology at The University of North Texas Health Science Center (UNTHSC) School of Public Health at Fort Worth, learned about the All for Them mobile vaccination project during an HPV Vaccine Coalition meeting in Arlington, Texas.


A student’s wonder inspires Ruona to contribute to scholarship funds

“When you work with students, you can’t help but see the world through their eyes,” said Ruona, assistant professor and dental director of Community Dental Services. “Students have a fresh perspective on the world. They have an incredible curiosity — they are like sponges because they want to learn everything. You see yourself in them and wonder if they will follow a similar path.”

De Quevedo is a professor, clinician, and researcher within the Louis A. Faillace, MD, Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston, where he serves as professor and vice chair of faculty development and outreach. He also is both the director of the Center for Interventional Psychiatry Program and the Treatment-Resistant Depression Program, part of the Center of Excellence on Mood Disorders.

Students from McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston urged local children to be active and safe while participating in activities on wheels while handing out 130 bicycle helmets at no cost this February at a UT Physicians pediatric clinic.

Four faculty, representing three UTHealth Houston schools, are among the inductees into the 2023 class of The University of Texas Kenneth I. Shine, MD, Academy of Health Science Education. 

The honor is bestowed annually to outstanding faculty from across UT System’s academic health institutions. They will be formally inducted with a ceremony on March 4.

When UTHealth Houston staff, faculty, or students need to call the IT Solution Center — also known as the “Help Desk” — the highly skilled people who answer those calls do not work for a vendor or happen to be in another country. They are all full-time UTHealth Houston employees who are dedicated call responders, working together to get computers or mobile devices up and running again.
