Key Points

Approximately ten percent of the general population has neck pain.  Neck pain has ranked 4th highest in terms of disability as measured by years lived with disability and overall burden.  Cervical spine problems are more prevalent in woman.  Etiology can be related to degenerative disease, traumatic injury as well as infection and autoimmune disease.
