STOP program, which stands for Stroke Telemedicine Outpatient Prevention, aims at lowering blood pressure to prevent future strokes.

Dr. Anjail Sharrief speaks to Terri Valiare after she suffered a life-changing stroke.

Teri Valiare experienced a life-changing hemorrhagic stroke, or brain bleed, while having a fun night out. Her husband rushed her to the emergency room where she met Dr. Anjail Sharrief, Director of Stroke Prevention with the UTHealth Stroke Institute. Dr. Sharrief noticed her high blood pressure upon arrival and asked her to join her STOP Program, that aims to lower blood pressure to prevent future strokes. Her program also offers telehealth services to help improve racial disparities in stroke survivor outcomes.

Dr. Sharrief and Terri teamed up to speak about the importance of monitoring blood pressure to prevent future stroke with FOX26 Houston. Take a look at the full story and video here.
